Our Story

Two People, One Counter,
Twenty-Five Years

Margaret and Harold Winslow standing together behind the jewelry counter in their Charleston shop

Twenty-five years ago, Margaret and Harold Winslow opened a small jewelry counter on King Street in Charleston. It wasn't much to look at — a single glass case, a handful of pieces Margaret had chosen herself, and a hand-painted sign Harold made the week before they opened. But it was theirs, and they poured everything they had into it.

Margaret had always had an eye for it. She could look at a piece and know, almost instantly, whether it belonged in the case or not — not because of what it cost, but because of how it felt. Harold handled everything else: the ledgers, the deliveries, the early mornings spent unlocking the shop before the city had properly woken up. Between the two of them, something simple took shape — a place where every piece was chosen with care, and every customer was treated like family.

That never changed, even as the years went on. Margaret still selects each piece by hand. Harold still remembers the names of customers who walked through their door a decade ago, and what they bought for their daughter's graduation, or their mother's birthday, or their own quiet Tuesday afternoon. It's a small thing, maybe, but it's the thing they've built their whole life around.

"We never wanted to be the biggest jewelry store in Charleston. We just wanted to be the one people trusted."

— Margaret Winslow

After twenty-five years, the doors on King Street are closing. It's a bittersweet decision — one Margaret and Harold didn't make lightly — but it isn't the end of the story. The heart of what they built is moving forward, staying open exclusively for the customers who've stood by them the longest: our VIP members. It's their way of keeping the relationship alive, even as the storefront changes.

Every piece still passes through Margaret's hands before it reaches yours. That much will never change.
